Alright- I came on a slow night to meet some friends here. They hyped this place up to have a night club, so I walked in by myself already a little lit expecting to turn up lmao.

I was very surprised when I walked in and it was actually a classy af restaurant and I didn't see any signs of a club. (Okay my friends were confused- the club does exist but on Fridays and Saturdays lol oops!)

I told the crew I was gonna meet them here anyway and I figured maybe they knew and I was the one who messed up so I took a seat at the bar and decided to chill.

I ordered the Watermelon Man cocktail and it was so good! The bartenders are clearly very skilled, it was nice watching them do their thing even on a particularly slow day.

Still waiting for my friends I decided to check out the food menu while I waited. I was psyched to see this place is actually a vegan restaurant! I ordered the quesadillas and they were very good. Like 10/10. Cashew cheese sauce was very cashew-y but i love thatttttt like cashews over Daiya cheese any day.

Eventually I met my friends and we dipped to go out. But coming here on my own was very random and overall a great experience.

It's a little pricey but hey it's vegan food in williamsburg lol what else would you expect.

Def coming thru on a weekend to checkout the party scene

Was with company who was hungry on a Saturday night in which case I decided, "hey find a spot while I drive and let's just grab a bite! Preferably somewhere new of course." So Black Flamingo was found and pulled up and so I instantly became a bit excited. I've never heard of the place and once I heard it was completely vegan, my spider senses began tingling. I go, "eff it why not!?"

So after scouring for parking, we arrived on the scene with the veggie lean and entered. 'Greeted by a host (which is always cool) who seated us, the wait wasn't bad. It was like an old school vintage think Scarface-esque meets a sexier more intimate Saved By The Bell's The Max look. I noticed most people were dining on tacos so I'm like okay it's a taco spot, eh? (NOTE: I'm not the biggest taco fan- go figure)

I liked the intimate lighting of the space. Everyone was chatting away with their respective company, groups, and etc. We were seated and received the menus to where I was pretty intrigued with the menu items. I'm like okay, this seems different but a bit overwhelming because of the pressure I placed on myself to hope and pray I enjoyed the food!

So my company ordered "The Jerk" which were two soft shell tacos comprising of seated mofongo, roasted fingerling sweet potato, refried black beans, jerk aioli, mango raita, & crispy collard greens. Now, for all those ingredients I thought it would've been a big deal, but it wasn't. The tacos tasted good, however my company c/o of them being small to which I said, "that's why I hate ordering tacos" lol. Now I'm West Indian and there was nothing "jerk-ish" about the tacos. Little to no jerk was tasted during this episode of dining. Honestly.

Ahem! Gripe time! My food took what felt like eons to arrive to the table to my dismay as I observed everyone receive their food way before me when they arrived after me. No problem. I simply made a mental note and made sure the server felt my frustration with my body language. "The eyes, Chico. They never lie". While I waited I scoured the area to see how many framed images of flamingo hung on the walls. I spotted several, but none black lol ‍

So I received my food and serving size wasn't huge, but it didn't need to be. It was delicious. I loved every part of my meal so much I imagined me eating another one lol oh for you curious folk, I ordered the the "Disco Bowl" thinking of its a bowl it had to be more filling than some measly tacos fir for a child. So my "Disco Bowl" came and it was named perfectly because it was a party in a bowl! -- consisting of Kale mixed with lentils, quinoa, currants, almonds and pomegranate seeds in lemon vinaigrette, over asparagus, roasted potatoes, arepa croutons, cauliflower purée, and chili aioli. The cauliflower purée was amazing and I never knew something so boring sounding could taste so amazing. It was of yogurt like consistency and added a nice contrast to the crunch of the asparagus stalks and leaves of kale!

Downstairs turns into a party/disco after a certain time (I believe 11p). We of course were over it and simply wanted to go home. All in all, I would be back although the demographic wasn't to my favor, my meal sparked my interest for sure. I have 3 stars because of the lengthy wait time for my food and the demographic, otherwise I would've given a solid 3.5 leaning towards a 4 stars. Kudos to Black Flamingo! Hopefully i can be back soon enough to increase this rating!

Absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday night for dinner around 8:30-9 PM. It was pretty empty at that time and we got a table pretty fast. We started off with drinks, Margarita and a gin and tonic. Both were really delicious. We then got a lot of different things, we got both of the empanadas our favorite was the spinach. The seitan not so much. I had four tacos of the chorizo which were out of this world, amazingly delicious. We then got the tostones with the chimichurri sauce, wow amazing! My boyfriend got the fajitas he said he couldn't believe that it was vegan because it tasted so much like the real thing, steak. Their guac is amazing and in general everybody should go here.

As we were leaving we saw that there was up dance club downstairs. We didn't get to check it out but next time we definitely will.

If you want to experience good vegan food within a hip venue all while being brought down by the poor staff culture of a restaurant, come to Black Flamingo. Food, good! Venue, good!! Service, selective and absolute SHIT!

This place is amazing! Every time I come I forget to snap a photo of my food because I devour it in minutes LOL! Chips and guac, toastones, esquites and every single taco are delicious! Even my meat eating friends love coming to this place with me.
